Week of April 8-12th


What a busy Friday!  We had a dress rehearsal for our Reading Buddies today.  Everyone did so well!  The class was so excited trying on their costumes.  We can’t wait for all of you to be our audience on Thursday, April 18th at 6:30!  There is plenty of seating for you to invite your relatives.  If you can't make the evening performance, you can join us for the school performance at 9:00 in the morning on April 18th!

 THIS WEEK WE LEARNED ABOUT:
  • The sun, moon, and stars
  • Symmetry
  • Facts about New Hampshire
  • Life in a first grade classroom in Alaska
  • Karate in PE Class
  •   Insects and/or Underwater Life
  • Understanding our character's traits in the musical

SOME ACTIVITIES WE DID:
  •  Partner read a text-set of books
  •  Made a paper model of the sun, earth, and moon
  •   Learned our weekly poem “The Rain"
  •  Explored our new math resource book and played math games from it
  • Started our informational posters about the facts we learned from the text sets Underwater Life and Insects (see pictures)
  • Drew our characters from the musical for the program
  • Glued symmetrical pictures
  • Read more chapters in “Camp Lobster Claw
  •  Read a letter from a first grade class in Akiak, Alaska

Reminders:   Early release, Wed. April 17th at 12:50 for parent conferences.

Homework:  Keep practicing your lines and songs!  If we sent home a CD, please have your child practice singing their song so that they are comfortable and confident enough to sing loudly during the show.
Circle notebook due Monday.
