Week of April 1st-5th 2013

Our musical is coming together and the students love practicing on the stage with the microphones.  I am sure you will be impressed and enjoy how cute they all are!  Remember the performance is on Thursday, April 18th at 6:30!

 THIS WEEK WE LEARNED ABOUT:
  • centimeters
  • pattern block shapes 
  • vowel teams:  ea, oa, ai, ay, ee
  • making healthy eating choices
  • finding facts in fictional stories
SOME ACTIVITIES WE DID:
  • made and tasted a delicious spinach shake, pictures are on Flickr and the recipe is below (Thank you to the Gorman family for introducing this recipe to us!)
  • rehearsed for our musical
  • finished Free the Horses, each student received a toy horse from Mrs. Griffith
  • played Tric Trac
  • completed many assessments that I will share with you at our conference
Spinach Shake
1 banana
5 ounces of frozen spinach
1 cup of frozen blueberries
0.5 cup unsweetened soy/almond milk/yogurt (we used strawberry yogurt)
0.5 of pomegranate juice or other unsweetened fruit juice (we used cranberry juice)
2 tbs. of ground flax seeds

Blend all ingredients in a high powered blender until smooth and soft!  Enjoy!

REMINDERS:
Parent Conferences: Wednesday, April 10th and 17th
Dismissal is at 12:50!
Musical, Character Matters:  April 18th at 6:30.  Please drop your child off at the classroom no earlier than 6:15 and please find a seat in the cafeteria. The side doors by the music room will be open.  

VOLUNTEERS FOR NEXT WEEK:
Monday, April 8th:  Mrs. Moores, not until 11:00 due to our musical practice
Tuesday, April 9th:  Centers from 9:45-11:30- Mrs. Ducharme and Mrs. Ireland
