Learning to be Scientists
We have been learning what scientists do and which tools they use.  We've focused on the vocabulary words Classifying, Observing, and Recording.  We talked about how scientists observe with a careful eye. We went on a nature hike and found objects that we could classify and describe.  Below are pictures of what we found! You can have your child read the blog and responses with you in order to add another genre option to read from each night.

    "My flower has white petals, a stem, a brownish inside, and little green leaves around the inside."

   "My flower is fuzzy and soft, brownish/whitish, and has flowers that blow off."

   "My leaf is mostly green, soft, and has a stem."

   "My rock is gray, hard, and cut in half."

 

  "My item is sharp with rough edges, brown, and has bark on it."

    "My acorns are brown, bumpy on top and smooth on the bottom, and there is a hole in the middle."

   "This apple is green, soft, and is a fruit."

   "My item is black, hard, and bumpy."

  "This leaf is not poisonous, has a stem at the bottom, and is soft."

   "This yellow flower is leatherish, has white on the top, and has a green stem."

   "This flower is little, still blooming, and is yellow."

   "This mushroom is squishy, white, and gray."

   "This flower is green and white, soft, and has a stem."

   "It smells like a flower, and it's smooth and fuzzy!

   "This mushroom is blackish/whitish, has seeds, and is broken."

   "This is a shiny, gray rock."

   "This rock is grayish brown, triangular shaped, and feels hard."
