Updates

We are looking forward to our parent volunteers tomorrow morning for our Fall Festival.  Please plan to arrive to the classroom at 9:05.  There will be three classrooms that will rotate through nine centers.  It should be a great morning!  We will enjoy a few snacks in the afternoon.
I am looking forward to meeting with you for parent/teacher conferences this week and next.
  • Early Release this Wednesday at 12:50 pm.
  • Early Release on Wednesday, November 8th at 12:50 pm.

Here's just a glimpse on what we've been working on:

  • Finished our first Reading Unit-Reader's Build Good Habits.  We celebrated by posting a reading strategy on Seesaw.
  • We are excited to begin our next unit about Nonfiction texts this week.
  • Practiced tapping and spelling words with /short e/
  • Worked on the formation of lowercase a, b, c, o, d, g, q and e
  • Began a chapter read aloud called My Father's Dragon.  Your child may want you to read the second and third book to them when we conclude the first.  We have the books in our school library.
  • Continued working on our "Small Moments" stories
  • Created three clues about our Halloween costumes
  • Worked on solving addition and subtraction equations with the number line.  Learned how to draw our own number lines as a tool to solve facts independently
Here are some questions to promote school talk...

1) Who is Mystery Doug?
2) How did you describe your Halloween costume?
3) Can you show me how to tap out short vowel words?
4) Can you explain to me how to subtract two numbers?
5) Can you tell me about your STEAM challenge last week with the pumpkin and the paper chain?
