Week of Sept. 23rd-27th

Meet Miss Gravlin, our student from UNH, who works with us all day every Friday.  She has been a nice addition to our classroom!  She will work with us until December. She is studying to become a teacher!

Here are the tangerines we tried, inspired by the series My Father's Dragon!  They were a big hit!

Our gummy bear experiment amazed us!  Can you see how much the gummy bear in the baking soda enlarged?  It also turned white.  The salt water and vinegar gummy bear dissolved.  The water variable turned it to Jello.  You can try this experiment at home.  Use any kind of gummy and see what happens.

On October 3, we will have Fall Field Day.  This is a first grade event.  We won't have centers, but will rely on our parent volunteers instead.  They are Mrs. Hanson, Mrs. Gomes, Mrs. Citerella, and Mr. Vivenzio.  Please report to the gym at 1:00 to help set up the games on the back field.  The P.E. teacher will help explain the games to you.

We have a field trip to Coppal House Farm Corn Maze on October 8th.  Permission slips will go home on Monday.

Shhhhhh.....Our first Mystery Reader is on Oct. 9th with Mrs. Shore.  Mrs. Shore will arrive to the classroom at 2:30 and email me five clues to describe herself by Oct. 9th.  Some ideas are the color of your car, favorite food, number of people in your family, any pets, interests, etc.  You can arrange the clues from easiest to hardest.  

Try to have your child log onto IXL math twice a week for 15 minutes each.  I get a report each week that tells me how long your child practiced and which skills they worked on.  Skills to practice are:
